Administrative Support

Are you The Tech Friend? Or maybe even just someone who has a decent knowledge about computer programs and wants to use those skills to support the arts? This opportunity includes assisting the staff on an ad hoc basis primarily with computer data entry assignments. Knowledge of Word, Excel and internet usage required. Instruction will be provided on Alliance customized programs. Techies and non-Techies welcome to apply.

If you love interacting with people, the front desk is the spot for you. Your time will be spent greeting and assisting visitors, answering phones, helping with gift shop sales, membership tasks, class signups, and general office support. Knowledge of Word and Excel is preferred, along with internet familiarity. You can expect your volunteer time at the front desk to be filled with diverse activity and warm smiles.

Special Event Support

There are numerous cultural events around the Alliance campus throughout the year, day time and evening, weekday and weekends. While each event is unique, there are some basic volunteer opportunities common to most, including: meet and greet, ticket sales, theater ushering, gift shop sales, concession sales, plus putting up fences and parking assistance at outdoor events.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of our annual events where we have additional openings such as selling prop bags and raffle ticket sales, and of course, it’s always fun having the option to dress up for the experience. Another fun annual event is Arts on Tap where additional openings include assistance with a silent auction and pub games.

Exhibition Preparation & Opening Support

If you've always wanted to work the MET Gala, but haven't had the opportunity, we've got the next best thing. The Alliance hosts openings in our main art gallery once a month on Fridays from 5‐7pm. Volunteer opportunities include catering (pick‐up or shopping for food), arranging food trays, tending bar, gift shop and art sales, and visitors meet and greet. Exhibition opening volunteers have a double advantage: support the arts AND show your friends how creative and cultured you are!

No time the night of? Help us prepare for the Exhibition! We also look for help with spackling and painting to get the walls in shape from the previous exhibit and assistance with the intake of the new artwork.

Theatre Docents & Ushers

If you are a fan of the theatre come join us for our special theatre season. The Alliance Theatre always has a diverse array of shows and we seek two bartenders and one/two ushers per performance. Our ushers assist theatre goers to their seats and hand out programs. Our bartenders serve wine, beer and water for donations only. These positions require approximately two hours of volunteer time per show , and it's fun to do!

Outreach & Community Relations

Outreach volunteers play a very important role in our organization. The Alliance attends events around the community in support of arts and culture where we also provide information about our programs and events. Volunteers will assist the Membership & Community Outreach Organizer with providing this information, handling the membership raffle, facilitating a craft activity, and/or setting up and dissembling the event table(s). Some of the events we attend are IMAG Community Fun Day, Art Fest Fort Myers, and Holiday in the Park.
