Connections: A Juried Exhibition at the Southwest Florida International Airport

Art in Flight is a partnership between the Lee County Alliance for the Arts and the Lee County Port Authority, which brings art to public spaces at Southwest Florida International Airport. Submit your artwork following the theme for the opportunity to exhibit.

In recent years, it has become increasingly important for all of us to celebrate, value, and strengthen our connections to each other and the world around us. Artists are asked to create work for this exhibition that explores this idea of connection. Artworks will feature traditional media such as painting and drawing but alternative approaches to mixed media are also encouraged.

Reflections: Member Exhibition

We invite our current members to submit one work following the theme “Reflections” to be displayed in the  main gallery during this month-long group exhibition. As an artist and an Alliance member, this is your annual opportunity to exhibit your work in our main gallery! No online submission process, no jury notification – simply the opportunity to celebrate the artists that make our community so unique.

Reflection can mean many things. It can be defined as the throwing back of light, an image in a mirror or  reflecting surface, or a careful thought about something. The last few years have been a tumultuous time and  have prompted many to reflect on their lives and experiences. This year’s Member Exhibition asks artists to  reflect on and showcase their artistic style. The theme reflection can be interpreted literally through depictions  of mirrors, windows, reflections on water, etc. or metaphorically.

Naples Art is seeking artist and designer submissions of original, creative “wearable art” concepts for the 6th Annual “Scene to Be Seen” Runway Art Show, taking place Saturday, January 14, 2023.

About “Scene to Be Seen”:

Art in all media and styles will be considered in a blind submission selection process, including but not limited to sculptural creations, repurposed items worn as garments, found object ensembles, and creative accessories for both men and women.

Judges look for unique, out-of-the-box concepts that are bolder and more evocative of living art than typical ready-to-wear runway fashion.  Examples of past creations include porcelain-cast bodices, hand-painted glow-in-the-dark parachute dresses, sculptural gowns and headpieces made of fresh flowers and branches, upcycled foil embellishments, paper origami outfits, and original watercolor paintings applied to silk satin.

This signature annual event of Naples Art provides artists and designers an opportunity to showcase their creative talents in a captivating, imaginative runway show as the centerpiece of a high profile gala attended by hundreds of SWFL’s art-minded community.  The event is publicized and artists are listed in the printed event program and get to participate in a post-show meet and greet with guests.
