Beginner Playing with Pastels (Ages 13+)

This Informative, fun and hands-on series of classes will introduce you to dry pastels and their unique and vibrant qualities, as well as the different papers and techniques to launch you into developing into a devoted pastel artist. This is the place for newcomers to pastels, or those wanting to refresh their skills.

Instructor Provided Materials:

A $20 materials fee to be paid directly to the instructor includes: selected pastel papers, alcohol, cups, wax paper, index cards, use of hard pastels.

Student Materials List:

• Your own medium or soft dry pastels OR a beginner set (minimum recommended:  Unison 8-count Pastel Set/Starter OR Faber-Castell Studio Soft Pastel Sets/24 colors OR Blick Artists’ Pastel Half Stick Sets/20 colors)
• 3 of your own source photos
• Black and White copy of source photos
• Sketching pencil
• Cheap or old paint brush (minimum size 1” flat)
• Cardboard or foam core (minimum size 24 x 26”

Please note: this class is hosted onsite in our classroom. If you are joining us for onsite programming, we ask that you adhere to signage and procedures posted on our campus. Face masks are required at all times and you are advised to keep 6 feet (2 meters) between you and others.
