Roberto Rodriguez Calas is a novelist, creative writer, and graphic designer whose work bridges historical depth with imaginative storytelling. Best known for his award-winning The Scourge trilogy, published by 47North and represented by Byrd Leavell of Waxman-Leavell, Calas has earned recognition as an Amazon bestselling author in historical fantasy. His body of work spans novels, novellas, and short fiction, including Kingdom of Glass, The Wages of Sin, and The Weight of Hunger, showcasing his ability to craft vivid narratives grounded in richly researched medieval settings. His writing career began in journalism, reporting for The Day of New London before moving into editorial roles and freelance writing, building a strong foundation in storytelling across multiple formats.
In addition to his literary accomplishments, Calas has spent decades fostering creative communities and entrepreneurial ventures. He owned and operated Mantra Immortal, a custom-gifts retail shop in Connecticut, for over 15 years, and founded the Fairfield Scribes writers’ group, which he led for the same length of time. A graduate of the University of Connecticut with a B.A. in Journalism and Creative Writing, he has been recognized with numerous honors, including the CT Independent Author Award for The Scourge and a Jennie Hackman Short Story Award. Calas has also appeared as a guest speaker and panelist at events such as Anomalycon and New York Comic Con, continuing to engage audiences with his passion for storytelling and creativity.
