Zati Basket – Onsite Workshop

Zati is an ancient Urdu word meaning “essential, intrinsic, natural, fundamental.” In this workshop, learn to weave a basket from yarn and natural materials on a flat tapestry loom and surprise yourself with the shaping of a basket. The class will last 6 hours. Please bring a lunch with you.

Baskets, though often used for decoration today, have for thousands of years served as useful containers, custom-made for the task at hand.

Supplies: All materials and use of loom will be furnished at a $15 materials fee to be paid directly to the instructor.

Please note: this class is hosted onsite in our classroom. If you are joining us for onsite programming, we ask that you adhere to signage and procedures posted on our campus. Face masks are required at all times and you are advised to keep 6 feet (2 meters) between you and others. Class size is limited to 12 students and 1 instructor so register today to ensure your spot to create with us!
