Event details

This 2 night class will be held at Riverside Community Center: 3061 E Riverside Dr, Fort Myers, FL 33916

Woodturning uses the powers of the lathe to produce stunning bowls, lamps, pens, furniture legs, and even handles for tools. Woodturning can be credited for just about any rounded piece of wooden craft. It does not require physical strength and basic skills can be mastered quickly. The lathe itself a joy to operate, and the process of sculpting wood is a very satisfying experience.

In collaboration between the Alliance and Woodturners of SWFL,  woodworkers Oliver Martin and Joe Payne present fundamentals of woodturning at Riverside Community Center. Oliver and Joe are officers of the Woodturners of Southwest Florida (woodturnersofswfl.org)and bring many years of experience in wood crafting to this class.

Students will each have their own lathe and tools, and upon completion will have turned simple projects.

Ages 12-18 are welcome to attend this workshop, however they must have a parent registered as well.
