Event details

In this workshop Francesco will break down paintings by master painters (Zorn, Rembrandt, Nerdrum, Leonardo) and will analyze the artist’s use of shadows and overall approach to value.
The use of charcoal only, reduced down to 3 values allows us to discover new shape relationships. You will learn how to control your tones and to emphasize certain features within your drawing, as well as how to start your drawing in the right way by personally translating the subject instead of just copying.

The students will apply the concepts learned in the morning with a live model from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

All lessons will include an introduction, lesson overview, drawing demonstration, and one on one assistance and feedback.

Francesco will also cover concepts such as sighting, squinting, shape, color, line, value, edges, flat vs 3d, depth of field. Organic shapes vs architectural shapes.
