Sunsets and Silhouettes Painting with Shirley Hales (Ages 16+)

Paint brilliant sunsets accented by dark silhouettes of trees, people, birds or boats. This workshop includes demonstrations to create dazzling skies overlaid with striking silhouettes using watercolor or acrylic mediums. All skill levels welcome. Ample time is provided for
individual instruction to complete a compelling landscape painting.

Supplies Needed:
Several sheets of 140 lb (or heavier) watercolor paper or canvas – (for practice and to complete
an 8 x 10, 9×12 or 11×14 painting)
Flat brushes ¾” or 1 “ AND ¼”
Round brushes No 5 or 6 AND No 10 or 12 with fine points

Cadmium Red
Cerulean Blue
Ultramarine Blue
Indigo
Winsor or Sap Green
New Gamboge
Burnt Sienna
Chinese White
Payne’s Grey
Misc: Container for water, paper towels, palette with space for mixing paint, support board for
paper. Optional: sketching pencil, kneaded eraser
