? Storytelling Festival

In an era of increasing loneliness among the elderly and growing social disconnection among younger generations, storytelling has the power to bridge the gap. Join us for “Rock of Ages: Storytelling Across the Generations,” a thought-provoking panel exploring how intergenerational storytelling can foster empathy, strengthen communities, and preserve the wisdom of compassion and kindness.

This discussion will highlight a special initiative at Florida Gulf Coast University, where storytelling is being used to connect generations through the Roots of Compassion and Kindness (ROCK) Center and the Shady Rest Institute on Positive Aging.

Moderated by philosopher and filmmaker Jameson W. Yingling, the panel features:
?️ Dr. Maria Roca – Professor of Integrated Studies & Founder of the ROCK Center
?️ Dr. Tom Felke – Professor of Social Work & Executive Director of the Shady Rest Institute on Positive Aging
?️ Hannah Harley – Professor of Art & Community Engagement

The session will include a short talk, a panel discussion, and an interactive audience Q&A.

? Don’t miss this opportunity to explore how storytelling can heal, connect, and transform communities! Free and open to all festival attendees.
