Celebrate 50 Years of the Arts! Join us for Pop-Up Museum50, a two-day special exhibition honoring the Alliance for the Arts’ 50th anniversary, a special two-day exhibition juried by internationally renowned artist Marcus Jansen. This exclusive showcase offers two distinct experiences: a ticketed opening night reception on March 1 and a free public gallery viewing on March 2.
Artists from Tampa to Marco Island were invited to submit original works in a variety of media, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, printmaking, and textiles. The selected works reflect originality, creativity, and a bold contemporary vision. The exhibition also features cash prizes for top artists, with $500 for first place, $250 for second place, and $150 for third place.
March 1 – Exclusive Opening Night Reception (Ticketed Event | Cocktail Attire)
Guests will enjoy an elegant evening of art, live jazz by the Rob Law Quartet, and gourmet hors d’oeuvres, while being the first to experience this remarkable exhibition. The event also includes an exclusive opportunity to purchase limited-edition prints by Marcus Jansen before they are released to the public.
The Rob Law Quartet, known for their performances across Florida, features Jonathan Eyasman (tenor saxophone), Eduard Barcela (piano), Gabriel Burgos (bass), and Rob Law (drums).
March 2 – Free Public Gallery Viewing (Open to All | Free Admission)
The celebration continues with a free public viewing of the exhibition, providing the community an opportunity to experience the artwork at their own pace and engage with the creative voices shaping today’s contemporary art scene.
Limited-Edition Prints by Marcus Jansen – Donated to Support the Alliance
In honor of the Alliance for the Arts’ 50th anniversary, Marcus Jansen has signed and numbered 50 limited-edition prints of his powerful piece, Monument Wars II. These exclusive prints have been donated to help raise funds for the Alliance, ensuring continued support for arts and culture in Southwest Florida. Thanks to G+H Printing in Naples and the Marcus Jansen Foundation, 100% of the proceeds from these prints will directly benefit the Alliance for the Arts.
Juror’s Statement
“What an excitement it was to get to know some of our local and not so local SW Florida artists practicing today. The pieces chosen for this exhibition stand out for their originality, creativity and fearless imagination —qualities that I believe are the essential ingredient for a great work of art and new understanding. From over 200 submissions that were entered, I was looking for artists that used unique vocabularies and displayed powerful contemporary voices that were not afraid to blur or challenge lines. It will be nice to see these artists get the spotlight at the Pop-UP Museum50.” — Marcus Jansen, internationally renowned artist and juror for Pop-Up Museum50

About the Juror: Marcus Jansen
Marcus Antonius Jansen is a painter renowned for his critique of colonialism and corporatism, often depicting “Faceless” portraits and conflict-ridden landscapes. A Gulf War veteran, Jansen’s work reflects the dual meaning of “avant-garde,” addressing both aesthetic innovation and the harsh realities of human conflict. Since his early career with the “Prince Street Kings” in 1999, he has challenged societal narratives and reexamined visual history in a globalized, economically turbulent era.
Jansen has participated in notable exhibitions, including the 12th International Print and Drawing Biennale (Taiwan) and solo shows at La Triennale di Milano and U.S. institutions like the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. His works are housed in prestigious collections, including The Bronx Museum of the Arts, The Baker Museum, and The Moscow Museum of Modern Art. Over 25 years, Jansen has been recognized as a pioneering voice in socio-political art.
