Members-Only Field Trip: Matlacha

Connect with local art and history with your friends from the Alliance as you explore your own backyard during this fun and exclusive tour! Matlacha is a funky Florida fishing town bursting with an atmosphere that’s uniquely its own.

The tour begins at Leoma Lovegrove Gallery and Gardens with a tour of her private studio and gallery. Then, stroll through Matlacha on a guided tour focusing on the area’s history, plans for revitalization and public art pieces.

For lunch, enjoy the freshest seafood on the island at Blue Dog Bar & Grill. Local fishermen, brewers, farmers and ranchers provide quality ingredients for an exciting taste of Matlacha.

After, we’ll stop at Wild Child Art Gallery for a unique demonstration of  chain maille and faux metal, woodcarving, fine silver and copper smithing, shell art and pottery. Rub elbows with local artists and enjoy wine and chocolates provided by Wild Child Art Gallery.
