Event details

“HUSH | Help Us Say Help” is a 90-minute documentary that discusses the origins of generational trauma and access to mental health resources within Black communities across the United States.

Through cunning and compassionate storytelling, the goal is to increase prioritization and awareness surrounding the topic of Mental Health within Black communities. A38 Films, LLC aims to educate, entertain and empower Black families to transcend generational and individual trauma by seeking professional support. In addition to hosting film screenings nationwide, A38 Films, LLC also has a goal to give back to Black communities.

 Fiscal Sponsorship of HUSH provides:

  • Post-production | Some of our remaining post-production cost includes editing, color grading, original cinematic score, sound mixing, copyrights, and legal fees/licensing material.
  • Marketing & Festivals | Finishing the film is only the start of the journey. HUSH’s best shot at sustained life and exposure is through marketing and the festival circuit. Marketing through digital advertising, billboards, direct mailings, movie posters, and merchandise will allow us to expand the reach of the film to our desired audience. Most festivals request substantial submission fees and may require the core team to travel as needed.
  • HUSH Screening Tour Travel | To assist in transforming the lives of Black Americans, we plan to conduct a multi-city screening tour to bring HUSH directly to Black communities. So, we will need to arrange travel, lodging, and food expenses during our time away from home. Our screening events will connect community members with local providers and other mental health, financial literacy, and voter registration resources. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A discussion with the director and cast members.
  • A38 Studios Headquarters| One of our more significant goals is to establish the A38 Studios Headquarters in Fort Myers, FL, which will serve as the epicenter of film and visual arts in all of Florida. We intend to educate and employ hundreds of individuals who seek to change the world through cinematic storytelling.

About Fiscal Sponsorship

The Alliance for the Arts has launched a new and exciting model that will help to build an infrastructure that will serve creatives in Fort Myers and beyond. We are pleased to introduce our Fiscal Sponsorship Program.  Fiscal Sponsorship is an arrangement between an existing 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and an individual or entity lacking the legal status needed to receive grants from foundations, individual donors and government agencies.

The fiscal sponsor agrees to provide administrative services and oversight to, and assume limited legal and financial responsibility for, the activities of groups or individuals engaged in work that furthers the fiscal sponsor’s mission, in this case, to transform lives and improve our community through the arts. The Alliance has a long history of supporting a community of artists who embody diversity, innovation and uniqueness of vision.

The clearest, though not the only, benefit to participating in fiscal sponsorship is that individuals are able to access charitable funding for their project while forgoing the time consuming and expensive process of creating and running a 501(c)(3) organization themselves. This especially applies to independent artists or those interested in the arts, for whom setting up a nonprofit for a particular project is rarely necessary. For questions, email [email protected].
