Digital Painting with Photoshop (Ages 10-15)

If you’re interested in learning all the different tools and techniques in Photoshop to elevate your digital art skills, you’ve come to the right course! This course will offer you a look at one of the most popular digital painting processes online using everything Photoshop has to offer us and more.

Week 1 — Intro to Digital Painting: Brief Process Overview: We are introducing the fundamental concepts and workflow of digital painting, providing an overview of the entire process from initial sketches to final artwork. We will go step-by-step, from sketch to final image, going over the important tools and skills necessary to achieve a satisfying outcome.
Week 2 — Phase 1: Sketch, Outline & Masking: We are focusing on the first phase of digital painting, which includes creating initial sketches, outlining key elements, and using masking techniques to define areas for work and further refinement. We will be using sketch brushes, layer modes and the selection tool.
Week 3 — Phase 2: Using Values to create Shadows and Lighting: We are delving into the second phase of digital painting, concentrating on the use of values to establish shadows and lighting, adding depth and dimension to our artwork. This part will require a decent understanding of values in art, and so will be less focused on the tool itself and more on technical ability.
Week 4 — Phase 3: Color, Render, Details: We are completing the digital painting process by applying color, refining details, and rendering the final image, bringing our artwork to its polished and finished state. We will learn how to combine all the previous elements of the process to speed up the final stages of our digital painting.
