Event details

This workshop is designed to teach couples how to connect with each other through nonverbal communication. Couples will learn the importance of leading and following and how to honor each other through touch and movement by learning exciting dances like swing, rumba, salsa and bachata! You must bring a partner to participate in this fun class.

There is a lot of trust and awareness that takes place when learning how to dance as a couple. Natalie has been teaching dance professionally for over 20 years and has fallen in love with the art of heart connection through dance and movement.

Day 1: This session you will learn the value of touch and basic skills for leading and following. You’ll be introduced to the four connection points and some basic footwork to a couples dance.

Day 2: This session will review what we learned in the previous workshop. We will dive into some deeper meanings of connection and touch. Students will learn a new upper body touch spin combination. And practice more on the art of leading and following.

Attire: Wear clothes you would wear out dancing, casual or dressy.

Shoes: Comfortable for dancing, dress shoes or casual, just no slip off shoes or tennis shoes.

This course is part of the Alliance for the Arts’ Summer Art Workshop series, which runs Saturdays from June to August and offers aspiring artists and families an opportunity to keep their creative juices flowing over the summer months with fun and enriching art workshops for the entire family.

Private lessons are also avaliable for $75/couple for 1 hour. To schedule a private lesson, please call the Alliance at 239-939-2787 or email Sonya at [email protected].

Please note: this class is hosted onsite in our classroom. If you are joining us for onsite programming, we ask that you adhere to signage and procedures posted on our campus. ABOUT THE ISNTRUTOR

With over 20 years of dancing experience, Natalie has had the opportunity of learning a majority of dance styles from around the world. Her passion to dance started as a child, making choreographed dances with her friends and sisters. Under Martha Pohl, at Fred Astaire Dance Studio, her love for dance evolved into a lifelong profession. She spent years studying choreography/performance and ballet at Boise State University under Marla Hansen. Her career as a Ballroom and Latin Dance teacher took off as she began making connections across the state with her fiery passion for dance.

Natalie continually explores the possibilities of dance and makes new discoveries every day. With a heart for children, she has provided countless hours teaching kids and teens how to dance and connect with each other. Natalie believes that dance is much more than movement. With intimacy, trust, and body language, dance is an unspoken language that is universal across the globe. Natalie has taught various dances in Spain, Ecuador, Mexico, and is dedicated to visiting every country possible. Her dream is to spread the freedom of dance, a language that everyone can speak.
