The Alliance for the Arts GreenMarket is continuing its decade old tradition of free, urban farming workshops on Saturday, July 17th at 10:30 a.m.
Organic farmer Ken Ryan will present Container Gardening 101– a free workshop that will explore how to grow beautiful and yummy food with hardly any cost or strife!
This beginner-friendly gardening class will cover the basics of container gardening! Discover how to plant edible and ornamental plants in a containers of all shapes and sizes, common challenges and the key steps to success.
Have fun, learn new things, then sample and shop the GreenMarket to put your newfound knowledge to work!
Grab a chair or a blanket and a notepad for this hourlong presentation followed by a Q&A. All workshops are free, but small donations are accepted to help the Alliance for the Arts continue programs and activities that benefit the community.
The GreenMarket has been a hub for local backyard veggie gardeners and organic farmers for over 10 years. It acts as a space where knowledge is shared freely, with the goal of making Fort Myers and southwest Florida more sustainable: more growers big and small, better food, introduction of biodiversity and resilience in our gardens and fields.

Our outdoor farmer’s market is loaded with local produce, artisanal foods, edible and landscape plants, yoga on the lawn, live music, art, one-of-a-kind gifts, backyard farming workshops and all the good flavors and good vibes you can fit into your Saturday morning. Plus, there’s plenty of shade, camaraderie and community – the perfect setting to enjoy a bite and relax!

Our weekly market is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each and every Saturday, year-round and rain or shine.

OM Grown – GreenMarket Yoga with Nicole begins at 9:30 a.m. If you are joining us for yoga, please space yourself accordingly and bring your own mat.

Please note: masks are requested inside the Alliance for the Arts building and gallery and when social distancing is not possible. Vendors are requested to wear face coverings, limit product handling and provide any necessary handwash or sanitizer stations for themselves and their patrons. Vendors are spaced out to follow social distancing guidelines.
