Oil painting is very forgiving and a lots of fun!

This class will introduce you to the fundamentals of oil painting. From color mixing to paint application, creating texture, depth, movement in your painting.  Students can use their own pictures to paint from or use the instructor’s references.

Supply list:

  • Odorless paint thinner
  • Glass jar with lid for thinner
  • Paper towels
  • Pallet knife
  • Pallet or freezer paper
  • Brushes
  • Filbert or flat sizes 4,8,10
  • Detail brushes(small round soft hair)
  • Soft hair and bristle
  • Paints
  • Gamblin or Windsor Newton 0il paint
  • Cadmium yellow light
  • Cadmium red light (should look like a red orange)
  • Cadmium orange
  • Magenta
  • Ultramarine blue
  • Pthalo blue
  • Titanium white
  • Mars black
  • Tape
  • Pencil, paper eraser.
  • Canvas paper for oils
  • Canvas 16×20
