LGBTQ+ Dating Violence ArtReach (Ages 12 – 18)

Collaborative event with Abuse Counseling & Treatment, Inc. (ACT) and Visuality SWFL LGBTQ+ Center. This is a 3 hour educational art session for ages 12-18 years old. 1 hour will be focused on learning tools that prevent violence while highlighting the barriers LGBTQ+ people experience that theirs counterpart may not. The next 2 hours will be dedicated to allowing the kids to express themselves.

Youth will find collage items that they feel represent their successes and struggles as an LGBTQ+ youth. They will create the collage with cut-outs, glitter, stencils, paint, and other various mixed media items provided. Once their collage is complete-we will then use color to express emotions and splatter paint to complete their masterpiece. There will also be examples of each LGBTQ+ flag available to be added to their work if they would like, and they will have free creative control to do whatever they would like! Bringing your own items for collaging is welcome!
