Menu Emphasis: A Mural Project was an open call for artists where artists were asked to submit pieces that highlighted the principle of design Emphasis through whatever interpretation they desired.
With all artworks showcasing emphasis differently, the selection process involved observing all submitted artworks simultaneously and analyzing how each worked in relation to the other, eliminating those that were unable to work in tandem with the rest. Whether through color, proportion, movement, or contrast, the artworks were chosen for both their independent merit and their ability to work aesthetically with the others, resulting in a varied display of representational, abstract, and non-objective works.
This round of our outdoor mural project features artworks by 13 artists from all over the country (FL, NM, CA, TX, and WA).
Featured artists include: David Neeld, Lawrence Phillips, Bruce MacKenchie, Andrea Facusse, Denise Chasin, Gwendalin Aranya, Jenny Pearl, Julio Julio, Alisa Sozonyk, Peter Harrington, Carolyn Steele, Sandi Ludescher, and Nancy Cunningham.
