Menu he Alliance for the Arts’ February exhibit, Southwest Florida Pastel Show, will feature works from artists of the Southwest Florida Pastel Society. Founded on the leading edge of a resurgence of interest in the soft pastel medium, the Southwest Florida Pastel Society (SWFPS) was established in January 2003. Pastels are best known for their superior quality of color and light achieved through the use of pure pigment with reflective qualities not found in other mediums.
An organization representing more than 95 active pastel artists of all skill levels, SWFPS has expanded to include national as well as southwest Florida residents.
The opening reception will be held on Feb. 9 from 5 – 7 p.m. and is open to the public. A conversational walk and talk with the exhibiting artists will be held on Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. during SoCo Second Saturday.
