Letitia Morrisey-Halpin

Upon retirement, after 26 years as an educator and school counselor, I began taking art classes as a gift to myself.  For 10 years I studied pastels with Cheri Dunnigan at the Center for the Arts Bonita Springs.  I subsequently joined the Southwest Florida Pastel Society which offered me the opportunity to participate in pastel workshops given by master pastelists such as Alan Flattmann, Liz Haywood-Sullivan, Doug Dawson, and others.  My work has been accepted by the juried Phillips Mill Art Association Show, New Hope, Pennsylvania.  My paintings have also received awards from the SWF Pastel Society and the Pelican Landing Art Club, Bonita Springs.

I enjoy playing with pastels, experimenting with tools and materials along with different papers and supports.  Pastels are forgiving, offering vibrant colors, the ability to layer for depth, and to mix colors directly on paper.  I especially enjoy the surprising and unexpected results that occur after play and experimentation.  Always learn something new!
