Informative, fun and hands-on series of 5 classes will engage your creativity with dry pastels, exploring their unique and vibrant qualities. You’ll experiment with different papers and techniques to launch or expand your techniques. This is the place for newcomers to pastels, or those wanting to enhance their skills. Over the course of the series, you’ll develop two pastel paintings!
Additional Materials Fee of $20 payable to Instructor at first class includes: select drawing and premier pastel papers, use of hard pastels, alcohol, cups, wax paper, index cards, masking tape, finishing materials.
Students bring their own materials as follows: 1 – 2 white foam core boards (at least 1/4″ think, standard size), your own SOFT DRY pastels, 12″ ruler, charcoal or drawing pencil, old paintbrush (at least 1/2″ wide stiff bristle), 3 – 4 source photos in color, plus black & white copies of those photos. Instructor is happy to make suggestions or answer questions; just reach out.
This class will be held in Studio 103 in the Edwards Building, on the Alliance campus.
