Masterclass: Auditioning for Theatre with New York Casting Director, Chad Eric Murnane, CSA – Onsite Class

Learn how to audition for theatre from a New York casting professional. This masterclass will offer students the unique chance to work on their audition technique, improve their material, and get candid feedback in an educational, fun, and supportive environment.  Chad will be working one-on-one with each student and will offer each participant individual guidance to help them make the best of every audition opportunity.

You can also choose to attend as an auditor for $45. This registration includes attend the class, seeing Chad work with registered students and taking part in the Q&A. Chad finds immense value in teaching, as it gives him the opportunity to nurture actors and set them up for success. His extensive experience in the audition room gives him a nuanced perspective of common pitfalls, and a refined ability to extract polished performances. The main goal of this class is to help each student find the most vibrant storytelling in their materials, all while presenting themselves in the most professional way. There are so many factors in the industry that are beyond your control; however, you can control the work you bring into the room. Performing/singing experience is necessary.

Audition Preparation:

• Please bring a hardcopy headshot and resume (stapled together).
• Bring sheet music for your musical selections, an accompanist will be provided.
• Dress to impress!

Please prepare one of the following (must be from a published play and age appropriate):

• Option A: Two contrasting 16-bar cuts (musical theatre canon and a genre of your choice)
• Option B: 32-bar cut (musical theatre canon)
• Option C: Brief scene from a published play (No more than 2 pages-bring a copy for reader)
• Option D: 16-bar cut and a brief scene
• Additionally: Bring your “Book” in case you are asked to sing an additional song.
