Pop-Up Artwork Installations

Community based public art.

Explore our five acre campus to enjoy a series of outdoor site-specific artwork installations by local artists.  The artwork can all be viewed from the safety and comfort of your own vehicle by driving through the Alliance for the Arts parking lot.  Visitors can also get out of their cars and explore the artwork more closely on foot.

We wanted to create a safe place for people to enjoy the visual arts.  Visitors can take the opportunity to get outside, out from behind a screen or device and interact with artwork in an outdoor setting.” says Gallery Director, Ehren Gerhard.

If you’re visiting after dark, make sure and check out our Outdoor Projection Mural facing McGregor Blvd!

Annette Brown, “Hearts and Souls Walk Together”: July-August 2020

In the beginning weeks of the Corona Virus stay at home order, artist Annette Brown was not feeling particularly inspired. Normally a very creative and productive person, Annette was struggling to feel motivated to make anything. After a conversation with a friend, she realized this was a time to come together in spirit. Thoughts running through her head were that we are in this together, but we are all walking alone. So it all started with shoes. She reached out to some thrifty friends in her neighborhood and they started painting their worn shoes. This project began with only four pairs of shoes! Over the coming weeks they added more and more shoes from their closets and enlisted friends to do the same. Contributors were encouraged to decorate their shoes and write messages of hope and their emotions on then as well.

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN!  We now ask our community to continue the project.  Express yourself and add your emotions, hopes, dreams or fears.  ANYTHING GOES!  Have fun with your personal expression. Your creative process will relieve stress and anxiety while being part of something in our community!  Art makes you feel good. WE ARE ALL ARTISTS AND EXPRESSING YOURSELF HELPS!

Outdoor Plywood Art Gallery: July-September 2020
