OIL PAINTING FROM LIFE:
ENHANCING YOUR VISUAL PERCEPTION

Understand color, light and form by working from direct observation of the figure/portrait. Artists will begin with grisaille painting, practicing brushwork using a system of value, after which they will proceed to full color using an impressionist palette. Important skills and understanding addressed during this workshop include values, edges, paint quality and composition.
Students will learn the importance of simplifying color masses to create harmony and perceiving beautiful color variation producing effects of realism and subtlety. There will be regular demonstrations and critiques throughout the course. This workshop is designed for artists of all levels. www.southernatelier.org
