Art in Flight (current call closed - check back for future deadlines and opportunities here.)
Exhibit your work at the Southwest Florida International Airport!
Click here to download an entry form. And read on for more details!
There was a time when the concept of flight was intriguing and mysterious. Airplanes were machines that inspired awe and wonder - and airports conjured images of faraway places and exotic lands.
Today the “romance of flight” has given way to the hustle and bustle of harried passengers and air travel has become just another option to get from one place to another. Some airports have committed to resurrect the romance of travel in there facilities. The new Terminal at Southwest Florida International Airport provides the Lee County Port Authority with a unique opportunity to do just that.
The Lee County Port Authority and the Alliance for the Arts have partnered to make the new “Art in Flight” exhibits at the Southwest Florida International Airport a success, establishing the guidelines, policies, procedures, organizational structure, and operating agreements of the project. Creative and planning committee members also include Florida Gulf Coast University, the United Arts Council of Collier County, and the Arts and Humanities Council of Charlotte County.
