From the Executive Director...

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

With great pleasure we announce the Alliance for the Arts 2010-2011 Season of the Arts and our 35th anniversary of serving the Lee County arts community.

The arts are essential to the quality of life and economic prosperity in Lee County. Artists and their work keep us connected through picture and movement, story and song. The arts introduce our children to our history and the endless possibilities that lie ahead of them. The arts remind us of the importance of creativity and enrich our cultural lives.

We value the arts for their contribution to our economic recovery – as a whole sector, the arts contribute $166 billion in annual economic impact. This year we are excited to partner with area art organizations to participate in Americans for the Arts’ National Arts & Economic Prosperity IV Impact Study. Study results will provide accurate data to continue our arts advocacy efforts on the local, state and federal levels and will provide significant visibility for Lee County and our local arts and cultural industry.

This year the Alliance will continue to foster year round classes, workshops and exhibitions, youth arts education and outreach programs. The Alliance Board of Directors and staff are committed to working with you to ensure that we fulfill our mission to “facilitate and nurture the creation, development, promotion and education of arts and culture.”

We hope that after reading about our upcoming year, you will be as excited as we are. Thank you for your contribution to the beauty, creativity, originality and vitality of our community!

Sincerely,

Lydia A. Black
Executive Director
