From the Executive Director...

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It gives me great pleasure to introduce the Alliance for the Arts 2009/2010 Season of the Arts. Two-thousand-nine has been an exceptional and defining year for the Alliance. We have had the rare opportunity to reflect on our past accomplishments while re-imagining our future.

As the Alliance enters its 34th Season, we are particularly proud of the wide range of programming initiatives we have fostered. Year-round exhibitions, extensive K-9 educational programs and community outreach art programming are all part of the Alliance’s core. Most importantly, we have entered into new partnerships with Theatre Conspiracy, WGCU, SW Florida Symphony, Heights Foundation, and LARQ among others.

I look forward to acquainting you with several new opportunities to educate and entertain. An independent film series, a speaking circuit, the fledgling GreenMarket and an enhanced class and workshop schedule will undoubtedly appeal to our generous longtime Alliance members as well as to future members.

As arts supporters, we must work together to assure a vibrant and strong artistic community that contributes to the economic development, quality of life and overall wellbeing of our community. The Alliance Board of Directors and staff are committed to working with you to ensure that we fulfill our mission to “facilitate and nurture the creation, development, promotion and education of arts and culture in Lee County”.

As we look forward to 2010, I hope that you will continue to place your trust in the Alliance through continued investment in all that we have to offer.

With Appreciation,

Lydia Black
Executive Director
